  Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)   The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the nursing care of his/her assigned patients under the direction or supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). He/She is also responsible for delegation to assistive personnel. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with supervisory skills, are inherent in the position.   Medical Assistant/Interpreter, Virginia Hospital Center Pediatrics   Pediatric Center, a service of VHC Health, is dedicated to its mission to provide a Medical Home offering comprehensive, affordable, quality healthcare in a culturally-sensitive environment to children, birth through 18 years of age, living in Arlington County with family incomes at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level. Located in a convenient, accessible location in South Arlington, APC features a full-time staff including pediatricians, nurse practitioners, nurses, care coordinators, and behavioral health professionals.   The Medical Assistant/Interpreter (MAI )works closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to provide patient care functions which may include: greeting and doing initial medical assessment of patients, assisting with procedures and treatments, obtaining lab specimen, and helping with patient /parent education. The MAI provides interpreting services to clinical staff during Triage, exams and advice calls. The MAI also provides administrative and clerical support to physicians and nurses.   The MAI must be able to recognize when he or she should act independently and when to seek help from physicians, nurses, or other staff. The MAI is a team player, responsive to the needs of the patients and other staff. The MAI works efficiently and effectively, with a clear sense of professional priorities.   The MAI is guided by APC personnel policies and procedures. The MAI is an enthusiastic representative of APC in the community. The MAI possesses a pleasant temperament. The MAI communicates effectively and thoughtfully with patients and co-workers. The MAI participates in formulating policies and procedures, attends staff meetings, and participates in Quality Improvement meetings.
