As a level II trauma hospital, the main operating room performs cutting edge procedures in the following surgical specialties: Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Spine, Orthopedics, Joint Replacement and Sports Medicine, General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Breast Health and Reconstructive Plastics Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Robotics and Trauma Surgery. The 8B Surgical Oncology Unit at VHC Health is a dynamic, fast-paced environment dedicated to providing exceptional care for adult oncology patients. Opened in December 2024, this 24-bed unit represents an exciting and innovative service line where nurses play a key role in shaping the future of surgical oncology care. RNs typically care for 4–5 patients per shift, delivering comprehensive, hands-on care that includes ostomy management, PICC lines, TPN, blood product administration, and complex post-surgical recovery.
