  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. 
  • Certification in MRI is preferred.
  • High School Diploma is preferred. 
  • One year experience in MRI is required. 
  • This position may require after hours on call responsibilities.


  • Uses MRI equipment in a knowledgeable manner. Selects techniques compatible with scan protocols.
  • Transfers patients to and from wheel chairs, stretchers, and into and out of the exam room safely.
  • Performs reconstruction as needed, produces magnifications, R.O.I.'s and grids, etc. to better demonstrate the gross anatomy.
  • Knowledgeable of cross-sectional anatomy and able to determine gross pathology and make judgment.
  • Produces readable, diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologists. Standards of quality are maintained.
  • Prepare the patient for examination, explains procedures, and maintains communication during examination.
  • Responsible to obtain pertinent MRI Scans for Physicians/Radiologists. Clinical history is correlated and consultation is obtained when necessary.
  • Supports clerical staff in MRI scheduling, prescan instructions for MRI patients.
  • Cooperates with Medical Imaging staff including Radiologists, Department Administrator, supervisory personnel and other staff members.
  • Interfaces effectively with other hospital personnel to expedite service, and in the best interest of patient care.
  • Accepts supervisory responsibility in the absence of the MRI Supervisor; may be designated.
  • Performs all pediatric exams according to the policies and procedures manual.
  • Performs a motion-free exam. All pediatric devices and techniques must be utilized to obtain a quality exam.
  • The technologist must keep parent/legal guardian informed at all times on the condition of the minor and alleviate any fears.
  • Reviews preparation information with radiologist prior to distribution to parent/legal guardian.
  • Documents and reports any information relayed by parent/legal guardian in regard to child abuse.
  • Reviews preparation activities with the Radiologist prior to performing an invasive or IV contrast procedure.
