Overview
Communications Specialist
The Communications Specialist operates the Hospital telephone, voice paging, radio paging and security radio systems. Must respond to and appropriately handle all codes and alarms terminating in the communications office. Must perform messaging tasks for staff as appropriate.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- One year of telephone operator (PBX) experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides answer/transfer, paging, radio paging and 2 way radio for communications and engineering.
- Monitors and responds to safety and security alarm systems terminating in the Communications office.
- Receives and responds to all emergency (code) calls and the necessary paging requirements.
- Call Statistics: Answers large volume of calls, over 97% of calls answered within 3 rings, fast processing time, removes disconnects quickly.
- Fully understands the following procedures: Code Red Procedures: Day/Night/Weekend/Condition Drill; Cath Lab Team calls; operator stats (3%); Park Orbit Calls- obtains caller's name; long distance line requests.
