Purpose & Scope:
The Lead Technologist will function as an integral part of the Cardiac Cath Lab team by participating, implementing, and assisting in the care of patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Demonstrates technical proficiency during all procedures while functioning in roles of Cardiovascular Scrub Technologist, Circulator, and Recorder.
Under the general supervision of the Cardiac Catheterization Patient Care Director, the Lead Technologist, in collaboration with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiac patient procedures, in compliance with principles of sterile techniques. The Lead Technologist uses knowledge of the principles of radiographic imaging, patient physiologic/hemodynamic monitoring and cardiac arrhythmia recognition during procedures. Prepares patient for the procedure, (i.e. scrub, recording, circulating). The Lead Technologist collects and assembles data for database, outcome analysis and performance improvement, to include supply management and its associated financial impacts. The Lead Technologist assists with establishing training program, protocols, and competencies specific to cardiac cath lab procedures. Performs other activities assigned by the manager to assure the department runs effectively and efficiently.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in health science is required.
Experience:
Five years of experience in interventional cardiology is required. (Including diagnostic, interventional, and structural heart procedures)
Demonstrated leadership ability is required.
Certification/Licensure:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by CCI is required.
Other Qualifications
Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
