Purpose & Scope:
The Director of Business Intelligence and Integration position will work with Physician Leadership, Nursing Leadership, and other clinical, financial, and operational departments to create a vision and strategy for improving performance by converting data to knowledge. The role will focus on optimizing data management, data security/access, data governance, data integration, and data enrichment both within the Epic environment as well as externally. Furthermore, this position will support the organization by ensuring the relevant roles responsible within the organization have the capability to access relevant and timely metrics to ensure successful adoption of value-based payment models, compliance for reporting of clinical quality measures, and other clinical, quality, operational, and financial optimization efforts. As a resource, the Director of Business Intelligence and Integration will provide industry expertise and leadership, and recruit/oversee managers and technical staff.
The Director of Business Intelligence and Integration will have the responsibility of implementing and maintaining the Epic enterprise data warehouse and associated systems including data visualization and transformation tools, as well as non-Epic tools, systems, and applications.
The Director of Business Intelligence and Integration partners with Information Technology, nursing, medical, financial, quality, and operational leaders to define and lead business and clinical initiatives in inpatient and outpatient clinical areas. This position will collaboratively interface with the CIO, CMIO, CMO, CNO, CFO, Associate Vice Presidents – Patient Care Services (AVPs), Directors, and other individuals responsible for monitoring and optimizing financial or clinical quality measures at Virginia Hospital Center.
Aligns solutions with business and IT strategies and comply with the organizations standards as it relates to system management.
Standardizes and disseminates all reporting processes via utilizing appropriate tools and principles within existing applications.
Coordinates the scoping and understanding of requirements for data conversions of existing data into new and future reporting systems and enterprise data warehouse.
Promote data integrity, governance, access, security, and reliability of data through efficient and reliable reconciliation techniques to the source systems (Epic and non-Epic).
Enhances the reporting and availability of data through the use of dynamic reporting tools and/or integration into the Epic data warehouse.
As the Cogito Project Manager (CPM), serves as the primary point of contact to Epic on all data/reporting/ business intelligence requirements.
Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy versus build recommendations.
Provide technical and functional leadership to the business intelligence, interfaces, environment management, and application security team. This includes supervising day-to-day maintenance of the systems, ensuring project timelines are met, and overseeing/mentoring staff for the purpose of both their and the institution’s benefit.
Education:
Must hold an advanced degree in finance, economics, public health, hospital administration, business, informatics or related fields. This career background will reflect a combination of clinical healthcare experience with a high level of expertise of market-leading hospital business and data analytics systems applications, resulting in a progression to either a leadership role, management position, or comparable consultant role. A cornerstone of this individual’s success to date will be a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly-matrixed organization and a demonstrated track record of delivering projects that meet end user and organizational needs.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience working within the healthcare field; At least two years of experience required in an inpatient setting or comparable position with strong knowledge of clinical workflows, business practice standards, and clinical documentation requirements.
Certification/Licensure:
PMP is preferred.
Epic Certification: application specific to be obtained within six months.
