Purpose & Scope:
Works under the supervision of the Administrative Lab Director and is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating point-of care services. Responsible for performing the duties of a Medical Technologist. Functions as Point of Care Coordinator and Lab Liaison, overseeing the daily operations of Point of Care testing on the nursing units and other departments of the hospital. Ensures that all moderate and high level testing meets CAP accreditation requirements for quality control, proficiency testing, documentation, competency, and correlation. Responsible for managing and coordinating all activities concerning the laboratory information systems (LIS), working as a partner with IT lab team. Maintains and updates all Point of Care and LIS Policy and Procedure manuals and required documentation required by regulatory agencies including CAP and Joint Commission. Serves as the Safety Officer for the Department of Pathology. Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Education:
An associate degree in medical technology is preferred.
Experience:
Two years of experience coordinating point of care testing within a hospital is preferred.
