Cardiology Physician - Electrophysiology

Job Description Summary

VHC Health is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join our established and growing cardiovascular program at the main hospital campus in Arlington, Virginia. This is a full-time, employed attending physician position offering the opportunity to practice high-quality, patient-centered electrophysiology within a collaborative, community-based health system in Northern Virginia.

 

Position Overview

 

The selected physician will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiac electrophysiology services, including evaluation and management of patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias. The Electrophysiologist will work closely with general cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, advanced practice providers, nursing, and cardiovascular support teams to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care.

This role offers a balanced mix of procedural and clinical care in a modern cardiovascular program with strong institutional support.

 

Clinical Responsibilities

 

* Evaluate and manage patients with atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, and conduction disorders
* Perform diagnostic electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation procedures for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
* Implant and manage cardiac implantable electronic devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices
* Provide outpatient electrophysiology consultations and longitudinal follow-up care
* Perform inpatient electrophysiology consultations and procedural care as needed
* Interpret ambulatory monitoring studies and device interrogations
* Participate in shared call coverage with cardiology and electrophysiology colleagues
* Document all clinical care in the electronic medical record and adhere to best practice guidelines

 

Qualifications

 

* MD or DO from an accredited medical school
* Completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiology fellowship
* Completion of an ACGME-accredited Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship
* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
* Eligible for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure
* Strong clinical skills with a patient-centered and team-oriented approach

Job Description

Purpose & Scope: 

The physician is a member of the healthcare team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The scope of practice of each physician is defined through the health system’s credentialing and privileging committee.


The Physician supports objectives, budget, and performance metrics at the individual level.

Supports all medical activities at the individual level including implementation of quality control standards, risk management and compliance programs.

The role of a physician is to provide quality clinical care to those individuals who have chosen VHC Health in a timely manner to meet the needs of our patients.
 

Education: 

Doctorate from accredited medical school is required.

Experience:

One year of medical/surgical experience is required.

Certifications/Licensure:

Licensed to Practice Medicine by the Virginia Department of Health Professions is required.
