VHC Health’s West Alexandria Physical Therapy clinic is a stand-alone outpatient rehabilitation location that provides high-quality, individualized care to patients ranging from age 13 through late adulthood. The clinic specializes in treating orthopedic and deconditioned patients as well as those with pelvic health conditions of all sex and gender expressions. Common referrals include conditions related to bowel, bladder, and pain, with the majority of patients referred from the primary care, urology, GI, and podiatry physicians located adjacent to our suite.
Full-time therapists treat an average of nine patients per day, with one 60-minute evaluation slot and eight 45-minute treatment slots. All therapy is one-on-one, allowing providers to build meaningful relationships and deliver patient-centered care.
Our clinic recently streamlined EMR documentation templates, improving efficiency while maintaining clinical excellence. The ideal candidate has specialized continuing education in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic health conditions, is able to work independently, and uses evidence-based practice guidelines to deliver care.
West Alexandria PT fosters a collaborative culture within a small, tight-knit team. Staff enjoy strong professional relationships both within the clinic and with referring physicians, enabling high levels of communication, coordination, and trust. Therapists also remain connected to specialty teams across the system through departmental rounds focused on treatment planning and strategy.
This full-time, Monday through Friday role (between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM) offers opportunities for growth through our clinical ladder program and access to continuing education funds. We’re looking for a highly skilled therapist who excels in communication, adapts well to changes in workflow, and provides excellent customer service as a representative of the VHC Health outpatient rehab team.
“An individual physical therapist’s scope of practice is influenced by professional, jurisdictional, and personal scopes of practice.
Over the course of the physical therapist’s career, scope of practice evolves based on considerations including, but not limited to, societal needs; progressive professional development activities of the physical therapist; modifications to jurisdictional laws and regulations; advancements in knowledge, research, clinical skills, and technology; and the evolving health delivery system.
The professional scope of physical therapist practice is grounded in basic, behavioral, and clinical sciences. It is supported by education, based on a body of evidence, and linked to existing and emerging practice frameworks. The professional scope of practice evolves in response to innovation, research, collaboration, and changes in societal needs.
The professional scope of practice consists of patient and client management, which includes diagnosis and prognosis, to optimize physical function, movement, performance, health, quality of life, and well-being across the lifespan. In addition, the professional scope of practice includes contributions to public health services aimed at improving population health and the human experience.
The jurisdictional scope of physical therapist practice is established by the practice act governing the specific physical therapist’s license and the rules adopted pursuant to that act.
The personal scope of physical therapist practice consists of activities for which an individual physical therapist is educated, trained, and is competent to perform.”
